The five North County teams who played their way into the Western Mass Basketball Tourney have their opening assignments. The MIAA Selection Committee made the announcement Saturday.

The highest of the seeds from North County are the Hoosac Valley Lady Hurricanes.  As the 2nd seed in Div. 3 they'll host a quarterfinal on Friday March 1 against the winner of Tuesday's Sabis-Frontier First Round game.

On the opposite side of the D-3 bracket, the Drury Lady Blue Devils are the 8th seed and will host #9 Mahar Tuesday night.

The McCann Tech Lady Hornets are the 6th seed in the 17 team Div.4 field.  They'll play at home Tuesday night vs. #11 North Brookfield.

Both eligible North County boys teams are in Div. 4.  Drury is the 3rd seed and will host #14 Pioneer Christian in a First Round game this Monday night. McCann is the 11th seed and will go on the road to face #6 Granby Monday. The winners of those 2 games will face each other in a quarterfinal game.

Tip-off time for all those games is 7 PM.  In all, 16 Berkshire county teams made it to the post-season tourney so it'll be a busy time for fans and our broadcast crew. We'll update you as soon as our radio schedule is finalized for games to be carried on AM1230 WNAW and streamed online at wnaw.com .
