The construction on Phase 2 of the North Adams Noel Field Improvement Project has been moving at a steady pace this spring.

While the actual worksite on State Street has been fenced off for safety, passersby have noticed work crews and heavy equipment on the scene for the past several months creating and installing the splash pad, bocce and pickleball courts, playground equipment and landscaping in time to meet a June 30 deadline for the project. Maybe the most noticeable feature has been the expansion of the basketball courts.

In taking a few work-in-progress pictures I was most intrigued by the features of the splash pad and I'm eager to see them in action.  Whether the new additions will prove as popular as Phase 1's Unity Skate Park remains to be seen, but anticipation is high for the project's completion and the public opening.

We'll get an update on this and other stories of interest around North Adams from Mayor Tom Bernard when he joins me on this week's Community Insight, Thursday morning at 8:30 on AM1230 WNAW and live online at wnaw.com.
