Mc Cann and Mt. Greylock Girls Bounced From Western Mass
The road to a W. Mass Girls basketball championship started and ended for two North Berkshire teams last night.
The McCann Hornets, who had won 6 of 7 going into the tourney earning a 7-seed, lost their Div. 4 first round game at home to Pioneer Valley 45-42. The 10th seeded Panthers advance to play #2 Ware in the quarterfinals.
In Girls Div. 3, 11th seeded Mt. Greylock, who won their last 6 games of the season to make the tourney field, saw their season end on the road at Granby, 57-35. That moves the 6th seeded Rams into Thursday's quarterfinal at #3 Hoosac Valley. We'll have that game for you starting at 6:50 on AM1230 WNAW and streaming online at wnaw.com.
The news was better in South County, as Lee and Lenox both won Girls Div.4 openers to advance to the quarters.
Tonight the boys take to the courts. 1st round matchups in Div. 3 include #13 Hoosac Valley at #4 Wahconah and #9 Mt. Greylock traveling to #8 Greenfield. The winner of that game has a meeting at top seed Narragansett to look forward to.
In Boys Div. 4, Turners Falls takes on Franklin County Tech. The winner of that game will come to North Adams to play Drury in the quarterfinals, which we'll have for you Friday night at 6:50.
