OK, let's try this again. The North Adams Annual Tree Lighting ceremony, which fell victim to rainy weather on Nov. 27, is ready to go this Friday, Dec 6, starting at 6 P.M.

Everyone's invited to gather around the big tree at the top of Main St. outside the First Baptist Church. They'll be offering hot cocoa before the event and the Drury High School Band will play holiday tunes before the switch is thrown to light the 2 big trees at Monument Square and outside City Hall, and the lights along the street in between.

Santa will be there to greet the kids and hand out goodie bags. The Downtown Holiday Bike Around that was planned on the 27th will not be going on, but North Adams Tourism's Facebook page notes that following the ceremony, the ROOTS Teen Center at 43 Eagle St. will open its doors so we can all share a post tree lighting snack, games, and a movie.

There's a bit of light snow in the forecast for Friday, but hopefully it'll be just enough to add to the festive holiday atmosphere.
