A North Adams man has been indicted on charges stemming from the death of a woman in Pittsfield last summer.

Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington said today that 25 year old Tyler Sumner was indicted by a Berkshire Superior Court grand jury on Friday on charges of murder, armed assault with intent to murder, and a number of firearm-related offenses.

The charges stem from the August 25, 2019 shooting death of Stephani Olivieri, 32, of Becket and Yonkers, on Columbus Avenue in Pittsfield. Olivieri was struck by gunfire as she sat in her parked car on Columbus Avenue. She was transported to Berkshire Medical Center where she later passed away due to her injuries. Investigators do not believe that Olivieri was the intended target of the shooting.

Sumner is currently held without the right to bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court on January 29.

The DA's office said the investigation in the case remains ongoing.
