Sometimes the lighter snowfalls like Tuesday’s can cause more havoc on the roads than the heavy dumpings. North Adams emergency crews were kept busy with several apparently weather-related accidents.

The North Adams 911 Facebook page reports that shortly before Noon, North Adams Fire, Police and Northern Berkshire EMS crews were called to the scene of a one car accident on West Shaft Rd, near Wilk Farm. One person reportedly was able to escape the car and was being examined on the scene for injuries.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a car off the road on Ashland St, about 2:30 P.M. NAFD quickly got the car removed from the snowbank and no one was injured. Road conditions were again said to be the cause.

Only minutes later, crews responded to a vehicle off the road on Mass Ave. where a truck struck and a fire hydrant, knocking it into the road. Fortunately, once again no injuries were reported. The City Water Department was called in to shut off the gusher.

And shortly after 5 P.M. NAFD, NAPD and NBEMS were called to a single vehicle roll over on Dean St. That driver had to be extracted through the windshield, with minor injuries.
