Mounties Win On the Road, Hurricanes Fall In W.Mass
The Western Mass tourney spotlight was on the boys squads last night, and North County teams came away with a split decision.
Playing at Greenfield in a Div. 3 first round game, Mt. Greylock came home with a 70-59 win over their hosts. As a reward the 9th seeded Mounties wil face top-seeded Narragansett in a Friday quarterfinal.
The news wasn't as good for Hoosac Valley as the 13th-seeded Hurricanes fell to Berkshire Co. foe Wahconah 71-63. The 4th seeded Warriors get another home game Friday night, after #12 Murdock upset #5 Renaissance 76-66.
In South County, Monument Mtn. downed Palmer 99-54 to advance to a D-3 quarterfinal at Frontier.
In Boys Div. 4, 7th seeded Turners Falls topped Franklin County Tech 66-52. They'll come to North Adams Friday to face the 2nd seeded Drury Blue Devils. We'll have that game on WNAW and wnaw.com starting at 6:50. Also last night, Lenox was a winner over Westfield Tech 71-39 and will visit Monson Friday.
