The Hoosac Valley Lady Hurricanes are heading into the Western Mass Girls Division 3 semifinals after defeating Sabis 80-43 Friday night in Cheshire. The #2 seeds will be facing a Berkshire County opponent, as #3 Wahconah pinned a 47-24 loss on Granby.

That meeting is set for 6 P.M. Wednesday March 6 at the Curry-Hicks Cage at UMass, and we’ll have it for you on AM1230 WNAW, streaming live at wnaw.com. The game will be followed by the other Div 3 semifinal with 4th seeded Greenfield taking on top-seed South Hadley, which ended #8 Drury’s season with a 65-50 quarterfinal win Friday.

In Girls Div. 4 quarterfinals the news wasn’t any better for McCann, as the 6th seeded Lady Hornets fell to Hopkins on the road, 64-33. The #3 seed will play #2 Ware Monday night at the Cage, after they squeezed by #10 Lenox 35-33.

On the other side of the bracket, Mt.Everett’s Gwendolyn Carpenter became Berkshire County’s all-time leading scorer in a 69-53 win over Renaissance Friday. She's at 2,072 and counting, as her 4th-seeded Eagles meet top-seed Monson in Monday night’s semifinal.

In Boys Div. 4, the MIAA has announced that the semifinal between #3 Drury and #2 Pioneer Regional has been scheduled for Tuesday March 5 at 8 P.M. at the Cage. If you can’t be there, hear all the action on AM1230 WNAW & online at wnaw.com.
