Deval Patrick Suspends White House Bid
Former Mass. Governor Deval Patrick is out of the 2020 race for the White House.
In a statement provided to CNN, Patrick said, "I believed and still believe we had a strong case to make for being able to deliver better outcomes. But the vote in New Hampshire last night was not enough for us to create the practical wind at the campaign's back to go on to the next round of voting. So I have decided to suspend the campaign, effective immediately."
According to Associated Press figures, Patrick finished 9th in line, pulling in 1258 votes in Tuesday's Democratic Primary, representing just four-tenths of 1 percent of the votes cast. The former governor, who entered the race in November, owns a home in Richmond here in the Berkshires.
