North Berkshire basketball dominance was on display at the Curry Hicks Cage again today. The Drury Blue Devils won the Western Mass Boys Div. 4 championship with a convincing 65-49 win over top-seeded Ware. Hoosac Valley captured the Girls Div. 3 crown, 56-46 over Greenfield.

The Blue Devils went on a 13-1 run to end the first quarter ahead 21-12 and never looked back while keeping the defensive pressure on Ware. They were led by junior Scott McGuire's 23 points. It's Drury's first Western Mass title since 1990 and they'll move on to a state semifinal game against Central Mass champion Worcester Tech. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 tip-off Tuesday March 12 at American International College in Springfield.

Right after the Drury celebration was finished at the Cage Saturday, Hoosac Valley took to the floor against Greenfield for the Girls Div 3 title match. The Lady 'Canes led at the end of every quarter and stopped the Green Wave 56-46. They were paced by Lexi Mercier's game high 21 points, 12 of those in the 4th quarter to help put the game away and give the team its 6th Western Mass trophy and a spot in the state semifinal against the Millis Mohawks, who earned their 5th Central Mass title in 6 years and first in Div. 3, downing Sutton 59-31. That game is scheduled for 5:30 P.M. Tuesday March 12 at AIC, just before the Drury boys semifinal.
