September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. At the recent North Adams City Council meeting a mayoral proclamation was issued to that effect. On September 29, there will be a great way to make a difference for these kids and have fun at the same time.

On that Saturday, the AYJ Fund Corn Hole Tournament will be held at the Armory Center in North Adams. Players must be registered by 12 noon for 1 P.M. start. Registration is $20 per team and there will be a $100 winning team cash prize. The day of family fun will also include a Chinese auction, raffles and more, and is open to everyone.

This fun event is being held on Fall Foliage weekend to bring smiles to local children with cancer and support cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. North Adams residents Joe & Kathy Arabia started the AYJ Fund several years ago to honor their daughter Anna Yan Ji Arabia, who was a victim of childhood brain cancer. The goal of the Fund is to bring smiles to children with cancer locally and beyond, and support critical cancer research being done to find effective treatments and one day a cure.

If you’d like to sign up for the AYJ Fund Corn Hole Tournament, donate to the cause, or get more information, please contact Kathy at 413-652-1602, go to their website or check out AYJ Fund on Facebook.
