Here's a bit of news I've been waiting to hear, as I'm sure have many others: After 17 years in Building 5A at Western Gateway Heritage State Park, the North Adams Historical Society has moved its North Adams Museum of History and Science to the Holiday Inn at 40 Main Street and is ready to reopen.

The official ribbon cutting is set for Saturday November 2 at 10 A.M., nearly 1 year to the day that the museum closed up shop in preparation for the move. Staff and volunteers spent many hours cataloging, carefully wrapping, transporting, unpacking and arranging the artifacts in their new home.

To thank volunteers who have helped in any way with the move there will be a reception this Sunday October 27 at 1 P.M. The Museum will host North Adams public school groups on Tuesday October 29 and Friday November 1 at 3:45, and the Board will hold an informal meeting Tuesday October 29 at 7 P.M. to review the reception and first school tour and get everything ready for Saturday's festivities. The Museum will be open to the public with their traditional off-season hours, from 10-4 on Saturdays and 1-4 on Sundays, starting Nov. 2.
