Red Sox Opening Day Tomorrow at Fenway and on New Country 94.1

The Red Sox open their 2021 season tomorrow afternoon against the Orioles at Fenway Park. Unlike last season Sox fans will be allowed in Fenway to cheer on the home team. About 4,500 fans will be in the park that on a normal day without a pandemic holds just over 37,000 fans.

The Sox will look different this season as some Fenway favorites will not be wearing a Sox uniform. After many injury prone seasons Dustin Pedroia hung up the glove and retired from the game. Free agent Jackie Bradley Jr. left Boston and signed a contract with the Brewers and Andrew Benintendi also has a new home this season after being traded to the Kansas City Royals.

The Sox are still missing their #1 starter Chris Sale who still has months of rehab in front of him following Tommy John surgery last year. Their other star pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is also out for the start of the season recovering from a “dead arm” that puts him on the self from March 22^nd. Pitchers Nathan Eovaldi, Garrett Richards, Martin Perez, Nick Pivetta and Tanner Houck will all start the season for the Sox.

The opening day forecast will not be the beautiful spring day everyone dreams of for the start of the baseball season. Boston is expecting periods of rain throughout the afternoon with a high of 53 degrees.

The Red Sox opening day can be heard in the Berkshires on New Country 94.7 WNAW in North Adams…AM 1420 WBEC in Pittsfield and WSBS FM 94.1 in Great Barrington beginning with the pre-game show at 1:10 pm.
