North Adams Christmas Trees Have Arrived (Photos)
Every year, the City of North Adams puts out a call for donations of two, 25 to 30-foot tall trees to decorate the downtown for the holidays. Around 9 A.M. today, crews were out installing the first of the two at the top of Main St.
North Adams Fire Chief Steve Meranti told us that the beauty that you see here was donated by the Pownal (VT) Fire Dept. on Route 346. Not only is it a handsome specimen, but it came partially pre-decorated.
The second tree will be installed at the other end of Main St. near City Hall. That one is coming from Glen Ave. in the city, donated by sisters Dawn Hinkell, Missy Ranzoni and Donna Randall, in memory of their mother Sandra Bryant. John Hinkell told me that it's the third time the family has donated a tree to the city, and they plan to plant another one so that someday their grandchildren could continue the tradition.
Crews will now start the task of decorating the trees, getting them ready for the Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 P.M. Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Eve.
