The Berkshire Eagle   reports River Street from Freeman Avenue to the Eagle Street intersection was closed for more than three hours Monday afternoon after a utility pole was damaged in a motor vehicle accident.

According to North Adams Police Lt. Anthony Beverly, a tractor-trailer was making a turn at the intersection of River and Eagle streets at about 11:09 a.m. but cut the corner too close, hitting the utility pole.

The accident knocked out power in the immediate area. River Street was closed until about 3 p.m., Beverly said.

National Grid was on the scene with a replacement utility pole in about 20 minutes, he added. There were no injuries.
