A chilled but spirited crowd braved the falling temperatures & gusty winds at Wednesday evening's North Adams tree lighting ceremony, to welcome Santa and the holiday season to the city. Two more communities will get in on the fun this Sunday.

The Adams Holly Days Tree Lighting ceremony is this Sunday on the Adams Town Common. Everyone's welcome to come out starting at 2:00 to enjoy free carriage rides and music, Christmas carols from local groups and Adams children, free hot cocoa, coffee & donuts from the Adams Lions & Elks, and a family prize drawing sponsored by the Adams Community Bank. Santa arrives at 3:00 with free goodies for the kids & the tree lighting is set for 4:30. The fun will go on rain or shine, we're told.

Also on Sunday, folks will gather at the PFC Peter Cook Veterans Memorial Field on West Cross Road in Clarksburg for the town's tree lighting ceremony. That one's set for 6 P.M. sponsored by the Peter A. Cook VFW Post 9144. Sip some hot chocolate and enjoy the sounds of the Clarksburg School Band as Santa arrives with an assist from the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company.  Post 9144 also will be giving out their annual Christmas donations.

Forecasters expect our frigid weather conditions to moderate in time for Sunday's celebrations.
