Monday, May 27 is Memorial Day, a federal holiday dedicated to the memory of members of our armed forces.

Clarksburg V.F.W. Post 9144 will be holding their Memorial Day service to honor our veterans on Sunday, May 26 at 10 A.M. at Clarksburg Town Hall, 111 River Rd. Clarksburg. Participants will include the Drury High School Band, Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Co., Clarksburg School Band, and  Peter A. Cook V.F.W. Post 9144 Members. All veterans and the public are invited.

North Adams holds its traditional ceremony on Monday morning, with a parade starting at 9:30 at American Legion Post 125. Any and all veterans are welcome to march, whether or not you belong to any veteran’s organization. The parade will head down American Legion Drive to Main St., then to Eagle St., winding up at the Veterans Memorial on Rt. 2. Ceremonies there will include remarks by Keynote Speaker, North Adams Veterans Service Officer Steve Roy, selections from the Drury Band, the Gettysburg Address by Drury 8th Grader Carly Pontier, placement of a wreath at the memorial, and the sounding of taps. In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held inside the American Legion Post.

Adams will hold its Memorial Day Parade starting at 10 A.M. Monday at the former Adams Memorial School, winding up with ceremonies at the Maple St. Cemetery.
