Hit And Run Accident In North Adams (UPDATED)
While I was at work this morning on the air, I got a phone call from my mother that the power was out but it was only partially out. So when got off the air at around 10:00, I jumped in my car to go investigate. Only to find out that West Main Street was closed and traffic was being re-directed. Here's the information we know so far according to North Adams 911 Facebook page:
Updated This Afternoon:
We initially learned that Grant Amos, the driver of the Nissan Frontier pickup turned himself in and now faces several charges including negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Luckily, he only suffered minor injuries and even told police he fell asleep at the wheel.
My question is, why attempt to run and hide when it's so easy for police to obtain your information by running your license plate? In all seriousness, if you're ever in an accident always stay on the scene and call police if possible. It'll save you in the long run from more serious headaches like this guy!
There was also a statement made this also affected Brayton Elementary School and had to close down for the day due to the power outage. Which National Grid was working at noon to restore power to the area including where I live.
This additional information was made possible by The Berkshire Eagle.
