The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition along with many residents of the North Berkshire Community took part in the 25th Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Monday.

The event began with coffee and pastries at 8:30 a.m. at the new location, MCLA’s Venable Gym.

Those participating chose from about 20 activities at sites that include the Louison House, YMCA, Adams Youth Center, Friendship Food Pantry, Goodwill Industries and Williamstown First Congregational Church, and projects onsite at Venable Gym.

There were projects for all ages and abilities. Participants returned to the gym at 12:30 for a free luncheon and community celebration.

Former North Adams Mayor, Richard Alcombright, will be presented with the Peacemaker Award.
