After several months and multiple committee meetings, a proposed plastic bag ban in North Adams remains up in the air.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Councilor Eric Buddington introduced a proposal to ban single-use plastic shopping bags citywide in March, but opinions remain mixed after several rounds of discussion in the council's general government committee.

The committee has received a mix of feedback ranging from concern about the inconvenience of a reusable bag to opposition to pay for a degradable bag.

Others, still, have argued that the inconvenience is worth the environmental benefit.

The consumer survey is still active on the city website for those who wish to participate
