It’s a big sports weekend for New England sports fans.  Red Sox vs Yankees…Patriots take on the Saints…the Ryder Cup is underway in Wisconsin and of course Friday Night High School Football!

The Sox are shooting for their 8 straight win and are in the driver’s seat going into the first of three games tonight against the NY Yankees at Fenway.  The good guys are currently 2-games ahead of the Yankees in the 1st position of the Wild Card race.  The Sox are hoping it stays that way as that will land them a home-field advantage over the 2nd wild card team.  Right now, the Yanks are 1 game ahead of the Blue Jay for that second slot.  The Red Sox sends the 10-8 Nathan Eovaldi to the mound to face the 15-8 Gerrit Cole, the Yankees ace.  Gametime tonight is 7:10…4:10 tomorrow and 7:08 on Sunday.  All three games can be heard in the Berkshires on WNAW 94.7 in North Adams…WBEC-AM 1420 in Pittsfield and 94.1 WSBS in Great Barrington.

There’s always a lot of anticipation as Sunday comes around during football season.  Sunday is no exception as the Patriots host the New Orleans Saints at Foxboro.  The hype is nothing like we will see next week with the long-anticipated return of Tom Brady to Gillette in a Tampa Bay uniform but Sunday’s game is as important as all of them.  Mac Jones would love to put another notch in his new NFL belt.  He notched his first win last week against the Jets on the road.  If the Pats can pull Sunday’s game out it will be Mac’s first win in front of a home crowd.  Both teams are 1 and 1 in the young season.  The kickoff on Sunday is at 1 pm and like Sox games can be heard in the Berkshires on WNAW 94.7 in North Adams and WBEC-AM 1420 in Pittsfield.

As far as the pros of the future Friday Night High School Football gets underway tonight at 7 pm.  The matchups include Athol at Monument, Chicopee at Hoosic Valley, McCann Tech at Lee, Drury at Hoosic Valley, and Wahconah at Taconic.

And for golf fans, one of the most exciting golf events of the year kicked off today with Team USA taking on Team Europe in the Ryder Cup.  The Ryder Cup is held every two years between the U.S. and Europe.  This year Europe is defending their championship with a win in the last Ryder Cup over the red white and blue.  Europe needs 14 points to win it this year and the U.S. needs 14 ½ points to regain the cup and bragging rights for the next 2-years.  The Ryder Cup is being played in Kohler Wisconsin.

So, sports fans taken in all you can this weekend.  It should be a great exciting weekend of action…unless of course the Sox, Pats, and USA do not fair well.  Then we will regret not getting to some of those outdoor projects we have to do before the leaves fall and the snow flies.
