Traffic Stop In North Adams Leads To Drug Arrest
A Holyoke man was arrested last Friday night after a motor vehicle stop on Main Street led to drug trafficking charges.
The Berkshire Eagle reports Trooper Anthony Martone executed a traffic stop and found that the driver, Orlando Perez-Martinez, 31, had a suspended license.
Perez-Martinez was placed under arrest and, during a motor vehicle inventory, Martone — with assistance from Trooper Scott Mason and North Adams Police Officer Kevin Stant — found 25 grams of heroin and about 9 grams of cocaine.
Perez-Martinez was charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute cocaine, wrong-way operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle after a license suspension; he was held on $5,000 bail, pending his arraignment in North Adams District Court.
