The Berkshire Eagle   reports a portion of Route 8 was closed Tuesday afternoon while crews repaired utility wires that were torn down by a passing tractor-trailer.

State Police were called for assistance in closing a section of the road around 1 p.m., said according to Lt. Thomas Ryan.

Just before 2 p.m., Cheshire police posted on their Facebook page that Route 8 was closed to traffic between Lanesborough Road and Church Street. About a half hour later, the department sent out an additional alert saying the road had reopened.

No further information was immediately available.
