The Best U.S. Airlines, Ranked

With the summer travel season close at hand, there are places to be -- and being stuck at the airport shouldn't be one of them. With that in mind, the financial site WalletHub crunched the numbers  and compared the 9 U.S. airlines plus three regional carriers, to discover which give you the best bang for the buck.

Tallying 15 data points like rate of cancelled flights, in-flight comfort, and lost baggage, Alaska Airlines topped the list, followed by Delta, Skywest, and Spirit. The carrier Expressjet rounded out the top five.

The site also ranked the airlines for specifics: For example, Frontier Airlines was ranked as the Cheapest Airline; Delta scored Most Reliable, and JetBlue Most Comfortable. Alaska Airlines ranked Best Airline Overall and Safest Airline, to boot.
