A morning fire at the company that makes the nation's currency paper was extinguished Sunday, after bringing out crews from around the region.

A dispatcher with the Dalton Fire Department said at 9:30 a.m. that a fire had been put out at 800 Main St., home to Crane & Co.

During the response, as many as seven fire trucks could be seen, including crews from Pittsfield, Windsor and Hinsdale, as well as Dalton.

A Hinsdale ambulance team set up an aid station to help firefighters on a morning that saw temperatures in the single digits.

Crane's operations are spread out along a branch of the Housatonic River in Dalton. The location of Sunday's fire was just west of Depot Street, near the intersection of routes 8 and 8A.
