This should not come as a surprise to anyone!

Americans consume twice as much alcoholic beverages during the holidays than at other times of the year, according to a new study.

The research, conducted by OnePoll in November and obtained by Study Finds, reveals that the average, American attends one social event in a typical week, but that number increases to three between Thanksgiving and New Years.

As a result, people find themselves experiencing hangovers three days per week over that period, with respondents claiming to arrive late to work three times over the holidays while calling in sick twice. Seven out of 10 participants also admitted to being less productive at work.

That extra partying hits our wallets too, with the average person burning through $537 during the holidays on parties, drinks, and social events, as opposed to $241 over the rest of the year.

Eggnog and coffee with Baileys were the most popular drinks among respondents, according to the study, followed by Christmas beer, cider, and hot buttered rum.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
