Thirteen schools in the 1st Berkshire District have won grants to support creative learning through the arts, humanities and sciences, according to state Rep. John Barrett III.

The grants, known as the STARS residencies, are funded through the Massachusetts Cultural Council and support in-school residencies in the arts, sciences and humanities with a cultural partner. The initiative brings students and teachers together with practicing artists, scientists and scholars to create rich cultural experiences of three days or more.
