The most exciting 2 minutes in sports will happen again tomorrow as all eyes will be on the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.  The race has been a staple of American culture.  The first race dates back to 1875. Essential Quality is a 2-1 favorite to win the race followed by Rock Your World at 5-1…Known Agenda at 6-1…and Hot Rod Charlie at 8-1.  The race gets underway just before 7:00 tomorrow night. NBC will be carrying the broadcast of the race.

The Red Sox continue their series with the Rangers tonight in Texas.  The Sox send 3-2 Nathan Eovaldi to the mound tonight against Kohei Arihara who is 2-2 on the season.  Even with the 4-1 loss last night the Sox are still 3 games up on Tampa who is sitting in second.  The Blue jays are 3.5 games out with the Orioles and Yanks 4.5 games back.  The first pitch tonight is at 8:05 and can be heard on WNAW 94.7…WBEC-AM 1240…and WSBS 94.1. The Sox have two more games over the weekend to wrap up the series.  Saturday’s game start against the Rangers is at 7:05 and the final game on Sunday afternoon at 2:35.

The Celtics are playing tonight at the TD Garden at 7:30 against the Spurs.  The C’s only have nine games left in the season and still jockeying for position in the NBA Playoffs.  The Celtics finally won a game on Wednesday after dropping 3 straight games.  Optimism for a long run in the playoff’s has dropped throughout the season as the team continues not to play well and continues to rack up injury after injury.  The Celts have one other game over the weekend on Sunday against the Trailblazers at home.

The Bruins have been playing some good hockey of late getting strong goaltending and the offence has been able to put the biscuit in the basket.  The B’s are close to clinching a playoff spot and if they continue to win, they can climb higher in the playoff ranking.  The Bruins play again tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 against the Sabres who they beat 5-2 last night.   You can hear the B’s vs Sabres on new Country WNAW 94.7…WBEC-AM 1240.

The NFL draft continues tonight and over the weekend.  The Patriots drafted Alabama QB Mac Jones with their first-round pick at 15 last night.  Many of the sports talking heads were predicting Jones would be the 3rd player selected but Bill was there ready to pounce when Jones was still available at 15.  If the Pats don’t decide to move up or down, they will get the 46th pick of the draft tonight in the 2nd round…the 96th pick in the 3rd and picks 122, 139, 177, 188, 197, 242 in rounds 4 through 7.  Tonight’s second round starts at 7:00.

If you’re a golf fan the Valspar Championship continues over the weekend from the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor Florida.  The tourney is underway on the resorts Copperhead Course.
