IBerksires.com reports emergency responders from throughout North County were at the St. Elizabeth's Parish Center on Wednesday and hoping that their next visit will not be any time soon.

The report states that police, fire, and ambulance personnel were on hand to take part in an evacuation and emergency shelter simulation organized by the county's Regional Emergency Planning Committee.

While multiple organizations were on hand, they shared the same common bond and belief; the safety of the community in crisis situations.

North Adams Mayor Thomas Bernard said he has learned that his role in a crisis is to let the professionals take the lead and be there to support police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians as needed.
