Two Northern Berkshire residents are facing drug charges after police said they tracked them driving back from Holyoke in possession of heroin.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that 37-year-old Shannon Luczynski, and 28-year-old Melissa Briggs tried and failed to evade state police and were pulled over in Savoy.

The pair was arrested after police said they discovered 174 bags of heroin.

According to the probable cause report filed by Trooper Scott Mason, the incident began when police in Berkshire County were alerted by state police assigned to the Northampton barracks that a Pontiac sedan had been spotted in “a high drug area” in Holyoke.
