I'm sure a lot of folks in Adams and around North Berkshire will have trouble digesting this bit of news today. After nearly 7 decades a Park Street mainstay is closing.

The Red Carpet Restaurant announced on their Facebook page that they will be closing at the end of the year, "after 69 wonderful years of business."

George Haddad and company have decided to retire, and close the eatery as of Dec. 31. The announcement expressed their gratitude to their staff and customers for their support, saying "It has been our pleasure to serve everyone throughout the years". It was signed George and Jackie, Ann and John.

I enjoyed a few BLTs there myself over the years, so I will be one of the many who will miss the Red Carpet's homestyle food and hometown feel.
