Rain expected in the Berkshires for a good part of the weekend gives sports fans a great excuse to hunker down on the recliner and take in a number of games, some with big playoff implications.  Weather permitting the Red Sox open up a 3-game series with the Marlins at Fenway.  The Celtics need a win tonight against the Nets, down 2 games to 0 in the opening round of their playoff run.  The Bruins open up the 2nd round of their playoff run Saturday night against the Islanders at the T.D. Garden.

The Sox now trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 1 game after giving up the lead in the American League East earlier in the week.  The Sox send 2 & 2 Martin Perez to the mound tonight against the Marlins Cody Poteet who is 2 and 0 on the season.  Weather could be a factor tonight and through the weekend with showers expected tonight shortly after the 1st pitch at 7:10 and on and off showers Saturday and Sunday.  The Sox will open up a series in Houston against the Astros on Memorial Day.  The first pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 4:10 and a 12:10 first pitch on Sunday.  The Sox Memorial Day game in Houston is a 3:10 first pitch start.  All four games can be heard on WNAW New Country 94.7 in North Adams…WBEC-AM 1420 in Pittsfield…and WSBS 94.1 in Great Barrington.

The Celtics need to perform a lot better if they have any chance of moving past the 1st round of the playoffs.  The Nets have had a pretty easy time beating up on the C’s 104-93 in the first game and 130-108 in Tuesday night’s game.  The series now moves to the T.D. Garden tonight with the tip off at 8:30. Jayson Taum's eye injury from Tuesday night’s game did not keep him from practicing with the team yesterday and is expected to play tonight.  Kemba Walker might be a different story and is questionable tonight as he continues to nurse a bone bruise on his knee.

The Bruins rolled past the Washington Capitals last Sunday winning the series 4-1, winning four in a row following a loss in the 1 game of the series.  The B’s have been anxiously waiting to see who they would play in the 2nd round.  The Islander beat the Penguins Wednesday night to take that series 4 game to 2 and head to Boston for game 1 at the T.D. Garden Saturday night at 8:00 pm.

NASCAR fans can watch the 200 miles of left turns at high speed for the iconic Indy 500 race Sunday starting at 11:00 am on NBC.  Golf fans can enjoy the Charles Schwab Challenge from the Colonial Country Club in Texas all weekend.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
