A special permit for a second retail marijuana store on Main Street was approved unanimously by the Zoning Board of Appeals at Thursday night's meeting.

The application from Elev8 Cannabis is for the property of the Four Acres restaurant at 217 Main St., which closed after a fire damaged the building more than 10 years ago. It has been vacant ever since.

Board Chairman Andrew Hoar said the reuse of a long-term and highly visible vacant and dilapidated property has the support of town officials.

"Town Hall is more than ecstatic to see some investment in this abandoned property," he said.

The new structure would be slightly less than 2,500 square feet.
