Petersburg, N.Y Driver Charged In Pownal Fiery Crash

A Petersburg, N.Y., man 36-year-old Thomas McNally has been accused of leaving the scene of an accident after a fiery crash on Old Military Road in Pownal early Saturday morning.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that Vermont State Police found a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder on fire at the bottom of an embankment, with no driver present.

Pownal and Pownal Valley fire departments responded and put out the flames.

On Saturday afternoon, 36-year-old Thomas McNally contacted state police and identified himself as the driver.

McNally has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash in which more than $3,000 worth of damage was caused to property other than his own.

He has also been charged with negligent driving.
