A New York state man was seriously injured on Saturday when his motorcycle was struck by car that had crossed into his lane at the north end of Cheshire Reservoir.

The Berkshire Eagle reports the victim, a 73-year-old Troy resident, was thrown from his bike about 3:30 p.m. after being hit by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 34-year-old Pittsfield woman, according to state police.

The man was taken to Berkshire Medical Center and later transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Troopers would not identify either operator.

The Pittsfield woman was issued a citation, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
