North Adams Mulls Value Of IT Study With $28,000 Pricetag
The Berkshire Eagle reports as municipal software and hardware age, North Adams Mayor Thomas Bernard wants a consultant to study the city's information technology infrastructure.
But the City Council is hesitant, and on Tuesday it balked at a $28,000 request for that work. The request was sent to a committee for further vetting.
Bernard seeks an appropriation from the municipal tech fund account to pay the Edward J. Collins Jr. Center for Public Management for an IT review.
Bernard and the councilors who opposed his request acknowledged the city's out-of-date technology — including a 23-year-old finance system — but debated the usefulness of the study.
