N.Adams Officials Hope Have A Park In The West End
After winning two grants in recent years to completely redesign the Noel Field Complex, city officials have their eyes set on a park in the West End.
The Berkshire Eagle reports the city will pursue about $318,500 in state grant money to renovate the city-owned Braytonville Park on Brayton Hill Terrace, Mayor Thomas Bernard told the City Council during Tuesday night's meeting.
The proposal for the park, located below Brayton Elementary School and the Brayton Hill Apartments, includes the restoration of the basketball court and baseball field, as well as installation of a multi-use field and multiuse track around the perimeter of the park.
If awarded the Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) grant by the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, the city would match it with $136,500 in Community Development Block Grant money, bringing the project total to $455,000.
The city receives $825,000 in annual Community Development Block Grant funding.
The City Council unanimously signed off on the plan.
