MIAA Tourneys Will Be Replaced With Statewide Playoffs

The member schools of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association voted 190-143 in favor of adopting a new, statewide team tournament proposal.

The newly approved format will do away with the sectional tournaments that currently make up the state playoff format. Instead of Berkshire County schools advancing to a Western Massachusetts postseason tournament, teams will instead be seeded in a 32-team, statewide bracket.

The new tournament format will be put in place for the 2021-22 school year.
