North Adams Mayor Thomas Bernard will introduce a proposal this week to borrow $425,000 to upgrade the city's fleet of vehicles.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that the borrowing, which will be taken up tomorrow by the City Council, would pay for several new vehicles for the Department of Public Services and Building Department.

The request comes as the city plans for a substantial portion of its annual debt payments to come off the books in fiscal 2020.
