The Air Quality Is Getting Worse In Massachusetts And Throughout New England

Hazy skies are clearly visible across the Berkshires and all of New England. But those skies are starting to feel like more than just haze.

Today, I stepped outside and couldn't help but notice the smell of campfire smoke. Now I know for sure it's not any of our neighbors outside the station burning anything or having a backyard fire. Unfortunately, we are in the direct path of the Canadian wildfires. Here's what to expect over the next couple of days.

Canadian Wildfires Bring Poor Air Quality To Massachusetts

Retired News10 Meteorologist Steve Capporizzo has been giving us updates on his Facebook page, stating that air quality will get worse Wednesday and into Thursday this week. Thick smoke brings Massachusetts under an air quality alert.

What Does an Air Quality Alert Mean?

Anyone who is sensitive to the air may have difficulty breathing plus throat irritation if exposed to the outdoors for too long. Steve mentioned that if you have a heart condition, a lung condition, or any other medical condition that may leave you compromised, you may want to limit outdoor activity and, if you go outside, wear a mask.
