Hancock Shaker Village Invites You to a Free Community Day; Fun for the Whole Family

There are many fun things to do in Berkshire County, especially during the summer. You have so many options, including outdoor concerts, car shows, carnivals, food markets, swimming, fairs, and much more. With the summer being so short, you want to try to get as much in as possible before school starts and the cold weather sets in.

If you're looking for a free, fun, family event, Hancock Shaker Village has an event this weekend for you and the entire family. As part of Hancock Shaker Village's Round Stone Barn's 200th Birthday, there's a free community day taking place this Sunday, August 2 at the barn from 10 am - 5 pm.

The day will include food trucks, ice cream, crafts, games, shaker exhibits, farm animals, tours and demonstrations, and plenty of Tanglewood entertainment.

On the Tanglewood side, there will be special programming as part of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's "Parading to Tanglewood" series curated by Yo-Yo Ma. Plus, many more Tanglewood events as you'll see below.

The Entire Schedule for the August 2 Event

To give you a deeper look, this is the rundown of what the day will look like this Sunday.

•  11 am: Special tour of the Round Stone Barn
• 11:30 am: Introduction to the Shakers, Brick Dwelling
• 12-2 pm: Tanglewood’s Instrument Playground for Kids
• 1 pm: Water Turbine Demonstration
• 1 pm: Beneficial Bats program with Mass Audubon
• 1:30 pm: Shaker Music & Dance Demonstrations
• 1:30-2:30 pm: Ida Mae Specker Trio perform in the Round Stone Barn
• 2:30-3:00 pm: RSB Birthday Remarks and birthday cupcakes (200 first come, first served!)
• 3:30-4 pm: Tanglewood Music Center Fellows – Brahms performance in the Round Stone Barn
• 4 pm: Special Tour of the Round Stone Barn
• 4:30-5 pm: Boston University Tanglewood Institute performance on the deck of the Visitor Center
