The Berkshire Eagle reports a man remains in critical condition after apparently being struck by a vehicle early Saturday, according to a statement released by the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

Adams Police Officer Nick Dabrowski found the victim, whose name has not been released, lying in the road near 20 East Hoosac St. about 1:30 a.m.

Dabrowski began administering first aid until the man was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where he remains in the intensive care unit, according to the release.

The driver left the scene of the incident, but police stopped a vehicle around the same time-on nearby Meadow Street.

The female driver of that vehicle also was transported to BMC, where she was listed in stable condition.

The nature or extent of the victims' injuries was not disclosed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or been in the vicinity of East Hoosac Street early Saturday is asked to call the Adams Police Department at 413-743-1212.

The Adams Police Department is conducting the investigation with assistance from state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Service Section of the state police.
