The Berkshire Eagle  reports an Adams man convicted of rape in 2012 is being held on $20,000 bail after allegedly fleeing the state amid new sexual assault allegations.

Stephen Matthews, 30, is accused of incidents that took place in Adams between July 9, 2015, and March 8, 2017, according to court files.

Adams Police issued an arrest warrant for Matthews last June on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender after they were unable to locate him for a compliance check related to his status as a registered sex offender, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. He apparently furnished an inaccurate address.
