The Berkshire Eagle reports Northern Berkshire residents will no longer have to drive to Pittsfield to be tested for COVID-19.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Berkshire Health Systems is upgrading space in the professional building at 98 Church St., adjacent to the North Adams Public Library, in the former Carver Family Dentistry office space, for COVID-19 testing.

Set to open soon after Labor Day, this will be the first BHS indoor testing site to go into operation, and the first testing site in this region of Berkshire County.

North Adams site was chosen for its accessibility and proximity to downtown.

Berkshire Health Systems Executive Vice President Darlene Rodowicz said the organization has spent the summer looking for indoor locations in all three regions of the county to do testing as the cold-weather months approach and cold and flu season begins to ramp up.
