An Adams man was killed Sunday morning in a one-vehicle wreck on Lanesboro Road.

The Berkshire Eagle  reports William M. Morrissette, 26, died of injuries suffered in the crash.

According to State Police, Morrissette was traveling east on Lanesboro Road near house No. 80 shortly before 8 a.m. when his 2014 Nissan Altima crossed into the westbound lane, exited the roadway and hit a tree. Police said they are still trying to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

An off-duty North Adams firefighter, who was the first person to arrive on scene, extricated Morrissette and began CPR on him. Morrissette was taken by Adams EMS to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation, state police said.
