An Adams man remains held without bail after allegedly beating his girlfriend Sunday and threatening to shoot her with his black powder hunting rifle.

The Berkshire Eagle  reports that 25-year-old Charles Weatherwax surrendered to police Sunday morning after a brief standoff at the couple’s home on Commercial Street.

The woman told police that Weatherwax came home drunk the night before and slept on the couch, and then in the morning became agitated when asked about using the woman’s credit card.
