A Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for North Adams

The snow has begun to fall in the Berkshires and it should drop close to a half-a-foot before it comes to an end tomorrow. The slow expected to start flying around 4 this afternoon arrived a couple of hours early and could be an indication we might be in for more than just 6 inches of the white stuff.

The National Weather Service’s Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10am tomorrow morning. Conditions are already slippery and driving and even walking will be dangerous. A quick tip while walking…DO NOT put your hands in your pockets! Your free arms and hands are detrimental in breaking a sudden fall. You’ll thank me before winter’s end.

Parking bans are already flying in North Adams, Adams and Pittsfield, and likely will be the case in every Berkshire community. The ban goes into effect at 5pm in North Adams…and has been in effect since 7am in Pittsfield. Check with your city or town for specific times where you live. Starting times may differ but you can be assured there will not be any overnight parking allowed.
