One man and two women were hospitalized with serious injuries Friday evening, after a head-on collision on Cheshire Road shortly before 7 p.m. at the 300 block of Cheshire Road.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Cory Bly, 28, of Brainard, N.Y., was traveling northbound on Cheshire Road in a Saturn Ion and "for reasons unknown at this time" crossed the double yellow line and collided with a Toyota, said on the scene.

Bly, 19-year-old Sienna Witherell, who was driving the Toyota, and her mother, Kellie, both of Adams, were taken by ambulance to a hospital with "serious, possibly life-threatening injuries," according to Pittsfield Police Officer James McIntyre.

Both sedans were seriously damaged. The Saturn's door was removed to extricate the driver.

A portion of Cheshire Road was temporarily closed while police and rescuers responded.
