With Veterans Day, November 11, falling on a Sunday this year, the legal holiday will be observed on Monday.

That means local, state and national government offices and agencies will be closed. So will banks and post offices, libraries and schools.  The BRTA regular route service will not be running on Monday and their administrative offices in Pittsfield will be closed.  Most major retail stores will be open for regular hours, but some local businesses or offices may be closed so you might want to check ahead.

Veterans Day ceremonies, for the most part, will still be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, including the North Adams parade and ceremony starting at 10:40 A.M. at the American Legion and winding up at the Veterans Memorial.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that Adams American Legion Post 160 will hold its traditional Veterans Day Memorial at 11 A.M. Sunday in front of Town Hall. The ceremony includes a reading of the names of Adams residents killed in all wars.

And in Williamstown, American Legion Post 152 will pay tribute to veterans on Sunday, Nov. 11, with ceremonies that will include the traditional flag lower, flag raise, 21 gun salute, and taps at following locations: South Lawn Cemetery at 9:30 A.M.; Sweetwood & Sweetbrook at 9:45; West Lawn Cemetery at 10:25; Williams College Cemetery at 10:35; Field Park at 11:11; and East Lawn Cemetery at 11:40 A.M. where the ceremony will also include a bell ringing and reading of the names of local veterans who lost their lives in battle.
