The Berkshire Eagle reports a North Adams soup kitchen was the target of a vandal that left the nonprofit with a shattered plate glass window and a $600 repair bill.

Witnesses told police Sometime from 10 to 11 p.m. Friday, an unknown man smashed the window in the front of the Harvest Ministries Soup Kitchen on River Street.

Linda Lebert, the pastor at Harvest Christian Ministries in Bennington, which operates the all-volunteer soup kitchen, said police contacted her Friday night and asked if someone could secure the building.

The soup kitchen serves breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday; on Saturdays, it serves lunch. All meals are free. It serves about 80 to 150 people every week.
